Goals of the College of Business and Hospitality Management
The goals of the College of Business and Hospitality Management are many as presented in our respective programmes and divisions for the Mandeville campus and offsite campuses in Kingston, Salem-Runaway and Montego Bay. Our programmes and services are driven by a core of values that are Christ-centred and service oriented. Our primary goals for our respective programmes and divisions are:
Goals for Business Administration & Management Studies
- Prepare students who are at the cutting edge of technological and market-driven changes
- Prepare students as innovative leaders in the Seventh-day Adventist Church, public and private sectors
- Establish and promote progressive partnerships and networks with community members, regional and international agencies
- Become a 'think tank' for positive, visionary and divergent thinking
- Promote ownership for national well-being among business houses, the private sector and non-private institutions.
Goals for Hospitality Management
- To support the operational objectives of Northern Caribbean University and its ethos
- To maintain strong industry alliances with hospitality and tourism stakeholders
- To satisfy the increasing labour demand of the hospitality and tourism sector through increased enrolment
- To provide our students with the required competencies in the various operational aspects of the hospitality and tourism industry
- To maintain a cadre of highly qualified and experienced faculty members
- To foster a mutual environment of trust, honesty and camaraderie among faculty, staff and students
Goals for the Evening Division
- To offer flexible, customized undergraduate programmes for working professionals
- To research current market trends and customize programmes to meet market needs
- To promote community partnerships with area businesses and other interests
Goals for the W.D. Carter Library
- Engage in aggressive business and economic research for Northern Caribbean University, Jamaica, the Caribbean and international entities
- Conduct at least one research symposium each semester
- Build a research database on business and economic areas
- Establish networks for promoting research and information management
Goals for the Morris Entrepreneurship Centre
- To customize training programmes for aspiring and existing entrepreneurs in the production of viable business plans, training and supervision
- To offer entrepreneurial training in collaboration with HEART/NTA/VDTI
- To upgrade students with requisite entrepreneurial and business knowledge and skills for matriculation into business undergraduate programmes
- To liaise with local an d international business leaders on current trends and initiatives
- To continually research and evaluate new entrepreneurial opportunities for local and regional markets
- To conduct informational sessions and seminars for local interests
