The Phlebotomy Technician (or
Patient Care Technician) is a member of the health-care team, whose
responsibility is to represent the laboratory in an efficient,
professional manner to the patient (public), and to relieve more highly
trained personnel of non-technical duties.
The Certificate in Phlebotomy
cannot be used as a basis for entry to the Bachelor of Science programme
in Medical Technology. However, credits from that are transferable,
depending on the eligibility of the applicant and the grades earned.
